Why renewing makes sense
Renewing KESS3 Slave is not just about extending a period. It’s about keeping the tool in the right condition to work.
With renewal:
you stay up to date with communication protocols in the packages you already own
you keep related services active
You work more smoothly with your Master
you avoid interruptions and work with a tool that is always ready when needed
In the workshop, this translates into something very practical: fewer unnecessary steps, less time wasted, and a tool that is always ready when needed.
What remains active and what stops
If the renewal is not active, KESS3 Slave continues to read and write with the purchased protocols where no renewal-related functions are required.
What stops:
- protocol updates for the packages already owned
- related services, such as Virtual Reading where available
- DTC read/reset
- OBD DataLogger for CAR where applicable
The key point is this: the tool does not stop working, but it stops being updated and loses a significant part of its operational value.
What the renewal includes
With an active renewal, KESS3 Slave keeps available:
- communication protocol updates within the packages you already own
- Virtual Reading where available (if a protocol requires Virtual Reading and it is not available, the ECU ID is still read and the Master handles the correct solution for the file)
- DTC read/reset
- OBD DataLogger (CAR)* where applicable
- server-assisted services linked to these functions, where required
*DataLogger OBD (CAR)
Among the most useful related services is the OBD DataLogger for CAR, where applicable.
By connecting KESS3 to the vehicle’s OBD port, you can read available parameters in real time, record them during a test, and review them in the dashboard as graphs.
A practical way to work with real data, carry out analysis, and share information when needed.
The 3 renewal categories
KESS3 Slave renewal follows a simple and clear logic, based on three categories.
Early Renewal
Main advantage:
you renew before expiration and do not lose any remaining days. The 12 months start from the current expiration date.
This is the most convenient option: you save compared to standard renewal and avoid any gaps.
Renewal
Logic:
you reactivate services and updates and restart with 12 months from today.
Reactivation
Logic:
you bring the tool back to the right working conditions, return to up-to-date protocols, and restart with 12 months from today.
How to renew
For renewal, the correct path is to go through your Master.
If your Master manages the renewal directly, they can handle it for you. Alternatively, they can act as an intermediary with the dealer.

Why, for a Slave, it makes even more difference
For a Slave, renewal is not just about “keeping a service active”. It’s about staying aligned in the workflow with your Master.
When protocols and functions are up to date:
You work more smoothly
You reduce cases requiring alternative steps
You have fewer exceptions to manage
The operational relationship with the Master is simpler
In other words: less friction, less time wasted, faster job completion.
FAQ
If I don’t renew, does KESS3 Slave stop working?
No. It continues to read and write with the purchased protocols where no renewal-related functions are required. What stops are protocol updates and related services.

No. In Early Renewal, the 12 months start from the current expiration date.
With Renewal and Reactivation, when do the 12 months start?
They start on the day of renewal.
What is the difference between Renewal and Reactivation?
The difference is the time elapsed since expiration: up to 12 months is Renewal, beyond 12 months is Reactivation.
